Temporarily Closing FAQ

Dear Students,

I imagine it has been a crazy week for us all. I have spent the last few days worried about our studio and trying to figure out the best course of action in light of what is going on in our world right now. I don’t know that there is a right answer for small business owners; I can only rely on my gut and what I think is the best decision for The Yoga Ground staff and students.

After a lot of thought and conversations, I have decided to temporarily close The Yoga Ground, starting tomorrow, Saturday 3/14. My plan is to follow/mimic the decisions made by the West Orange School System to the best of my ability regarding being open and closed. We are going to take this week by week and will send out more communication as the week progresses.

Please know that this is not a decision made rashly or lightly. This is a heavy and scary decision for me – not because I am panicked about the virus, but because as a single-income household I rely on the studio to pay its own and my personal bills. But, my morals and doing what I think is the right thing are what created The Yoga Ground, and ethically, for myself, it doesn’t feel worth the possible risk to stay open right now. I think that we have a responsibility as a whole population to protect each other, and currently social distancing seems to be the best course of action for this. I am going to trust that there will be small business support in the future and that soon, things will be resolved.

Please see below for answers to questions you might have and more information on TYG Online!

Thank you so much,

Kristen

Answers to Membership Questions:

What about my $99 auto-renew?

Your membership will be suspended tonight. This will push your next payment date out until after we reopen, so that you don’t lose time that you’ve paid for.

What about my class package? Doesn’t it expire at some point?

It does. But when it does eventually expire, we will push the expiration date out by as long as we are closed for if you have classes left.

What about my Groupon/new student 3 week special?

We will extend the Groupon Unlimited, Groupon 5-Pack, and 3-week special, when we reopen, based on how long we have been closed.

I just bought a drop-in class. Will I lose it?

No, you will not lose it. Your pre-purchased classes will remain in your account until we reopen, and they can be used then.

I have a Peerfit/ClassPass class that it is too late for me to cancel and not lose credits for:

If you lose a class or credits, please let us know and we will comp you a class when we reopen.

What about the March Challenge?

The March challenge will continue when we reopen! You will still have plenty of time to bring me doughnuts.

But, I am overwhelmed and need yoga right now:

The Yoga Ground has launched an online database of yoga videos (see below for information on how to sign up). I guess you can’t call it a database right now, as there are only 3 videos up. But we will be adding more over the weekend and weeks to follow. The classes will be in the different styles that we offer, of different lengths, and with your favorite teachers. The fee for this will be $25/month with a 3-day free trial. I know that this is not the same as coming to a studio, and, we hope that in the interim, it still allows you to breathe, move your body, and take some time for yourself.

How can we support The Yoga Ground while you are closed?

First, see the answer for the question above – subscribing to our online database for the $25/month.

Through our online store you can buy single classes, class packages, and gift cards to be used at later dates. You can also buy classes to donate to our community yoga bank (choose the “donate a class” option). If you were thinking about doing this in the future, and have the ability to afford it now, it would help us if some of these purchases were made sooner rather than later.

Introducing TYG Online!

The Yoga Ground Online has been something we have been planning for over a year. While we had already started the groundwork for this online database, we did not anticipate pushing it out so soon. Please be patient with us if you encounter any issues in technology.

We aim to bring you the same yoga you love in our studio, with the same teachers you love, in an online format that can be done anywhere at any time. While we WILL be back in the studio soon, we are planning on making TYG Online a permanent fixture. There will be new classes uploaded weekly!

Please be patient with us as we build our video library and as we work on giving you improved video quality!

Price: $25/mo with 3-day free trial

Once we re-open, those with the $99 autorenew will be given a code to access our videos for free.

Information on Signing Up:

1.  Go to: www.theyogaground.com

2.  Click on the box in the bottom right corner that says “Log in/Sign up”

3.  Create an account and enter your payment information (You will have 3 days free. If you cancel during those three days you will not be charged. If you don’t, you will be charged $25/mo until you cancel)

4.  Log-in and watch!

If you run into any technical problems, please reach out to kristen@theyogaground.com.

Again, patience please. We are figuring this out right along with you.

We will be checking voicemails and returning calls throughout the day.
